Alison Gopnik is a Professor of Psychology and Affiliate Professor of Philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley. She is an internationally recognized leader in the study of children’s learning and development and was the first to argue that children’s minds could help us understand deep philosophical questions.

She is the author or co-author of a number of books, including Words, Thoughts and Theories and How Babies Think, has written for the Times Literary Supplement, the New York Review of Books, and the New York Times and was Associate Editor of the journal Child Development. Currently she writes a bi-weekly column for the Wall Street Journal. In this interview Alison talks to Neil Denny about her 2009 book The Philosophical Baby.
